We’re proud to be sponsoring this year’s Edgworth CC Beer Festival (24-27 May), in what is a momentous year for the club.

Head just a few miles north of JCW’s Bolton HQ and you reach Turton, home to one large reservoir and one small cricket club with an impressive story to tell. Last year, the club started to build new facilities (including four changing rooms, an umpires’ room, toilet facilities, an electronic scoreboard and a players’ viewing gallery) and a clubhouse extension as part of a £250,000 redevelopment. For a small community club, it was an ambitious plan driven by generous loans from local business leaders and crowdfunding.

Now the building work is complete and the club is set to reopen – and JCW is proud to be playing its part in supporting the club by sponsoring its annual beer festival – one of the club’s biggest events of the year, and one of the first to be held at the new improved ground.

Raising a glass

Held over the late May bank holiday weekend (24-27 May) this year’s beer festival includes 20 real ales and ciders, a well-stocked gin, Prosecco and wine bar, live music, a DJ and a cricket competition. This year, with the help of JCW, the club are hoping it’s their biggest beer festival ever.

“Clubs like Edgworth are vital parts of their local community, and what the club has done with its redevelopment has ensured it can play an even bigger role over coming years,” said JCW founder John Wilkins. “JCW is Bolton born and bred, and most of our employees are from the local area, so supporting a local cause like this was a very easy decision to make.

“We’re all very much looking forward to raising a glass to the club over the bank holiday weekend.”

You can find the latest updates about the beer festival on the club’s Facebook page.
